Bashley park is set in 100 acres of wooded country estate in New Milton, which is a small country town of great charm set among tranquil lanes on the edge of the New Forest. It is about five miles west of Lymington, one and a half miles inland from Christchurch Bay and close to the Solent coast line.

A great place to explore and only a couple of miles from some of the south's best beaches.

The New Forest

Officially protected as the New Forest Heritage Area, this unique and historic tract of land comprises some 200 square miles of heathland, streams and ancient villages.

The shady woods and secluded glades are beautiful throughout the year and the teeming animal and bird life make it a paradise for naturalists. Much of the forest is now managed by the Forestry Commission and ancient woods of oak, beech, holly and yew are interspersed with plantations where timber has been grown commercially for centuries.

Picturesque cottages and ancient inns stand beside forest byways or cluster around tranquil village greens and many of the ancient common rights, which were accorded to forest dwellers by William the Conqueror, are still maintained today.

Lyndhurst

Known as the capital of the New Forest, Lyndhurst has been its administrative centre since the Middle Ages.

900 years of the history, customs and traditions are described in displays at the New Forest Museum and Visitor Centre. The Parish Church, its spire a familiar local landmark, has some fine windows by William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones and in the churchyard lies Mrs. Hargreaves, the original "Alice" portrayed in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
